never heard before

a mix of genres, masterpieces from 4 centuries, modern classics and soundstracks. in june 2001, raphaël marionneau presented the first event of
"le classique abstrait" at the legendary mojo club in hamburg and created a new concept for clubbing. following the success and idea of his chill out event called "le café abstrait", the mojo club has been redesigned into a big living room, filled with comfortable couches, abstract slide and video shows, with relaxed people, some tea for free and of course, the music. from 2001 to 2003, on a wednesday evening and every 4 monthes, "le classique abstrait" at the mojo club received
a geat feedback by the public.
from 2002 to 2006, "le classique abstrait" was in residency at konzerthaus dortmund and redefined classic clubbing: the public was invited to sit on couches installed on the scene: a premiere in germany. with the perfect accoustic of a concert house and visual installations, "le classique abstrait" offered to the visitor the possibility to relax with classical music in a wonderful atmosphere and enjoy a complete new concept of clubbing. since the first session, all the events have been sold-out and received a great feedback from the press and public. in april 2004, the magazine "tracks" on arte television presented "le classique abstrait" as one of the most innovative and most visited classical events in germany. in 2009, raphaël marionneau presented a variation of "le classique abstrait" at the herrenhäuser garten in hannover for the international violine competition in hannover. raphaël is invited in nice in winter 2010 to the music festival "c'est pas classique" for two days to presents "le classique abstrait"
for the first time in france.

klassische musik in der disko? warum nicht, denkt sich raphaël marionneau und legt im mojo club mendelssohn, sibelius und pärt auf. neben der reinen musik erklingen bei "le classique abstrait" nur einige aufnahmen von geräuchen aus der natur. marionneau mischt nicht, verwendet keine effekte oder zusätzliche rhythmen. das einzige, was er sich beizeiten herausnimmt, ist, ein stück ins nächste übergehen zu lassen. die besucher sind in der regel zwischen 21 und 35 jahren alt.

dvorák? debussy? gestern noch bildungsbürgerdünkel, plötzlich trendy: in berlin, hamburg und london strömt das clubbing-volk in die klassik-lounges und bejubelt die werke verstaubt geglaubter komponisten. klassik goes clubbing heisst dieses phänomen, bei dem geigenzupfen und oboen blasen zum hippen szene-event wird. raphaël marionneau ist einer der chef-fusionäre der beiden musik-kulturen und hat mit seinen lounge-abenden „le classique abstrait“ einen neuen erlebnisraum für diese wunderbar unpoppige musik geschaffen... und fand recht bald ein eindrucksvolles zuhause. das neueröffnete konzerthaus dortmund avancierte schnell zu einem der besten konzerthäuser europas. für die macher kein grund, sich auf den lorbeeren auszuruhen. sie wollten aufräumen mit dem vorurteil, ihr haus wäre eine filiale des altersheims.

raphaël marionneaus "le classique abstrait" is das lässigste clubevent der republik. nach hamburg, wo der dj seine idee vom "classic clubbing" erfand und entwickelte, hat sich das konzerthaus dortmund als zweite standbein seine lounge-reihe etabliert.




ein instrument hat "der vater der couch-culture" nie gelernt. denoch -mühelos füllt raphaël marionneau alle räume, alle säle mit musik. ween sie nur club-atmosphere besitzen... und wenn sie nich besitzen? dann schafft man sie - wie jetzt in dortmund neuem konzerthaus. und wenn man sich in den theatern fast des gesamten ruhrgebiets schwarz sitztmöbel ausleiht und die bühne in eine sitzlandschaft verwandelt. offenbar ist raphaël marionneau mit klassik genau das gelungen, was mitte der 90er-jahre die beide österreicher kruder & dorfmeister mit dem jazz schafften: ein radikale verjüngungskur. remixte klassik - das ist zurzeit ein trend, den viele klangtüftler für sich entdecken. marionneau ist längst da.
