abstrait's story started in 1996, when raphaël marionneau opened his first chillout event at the legendary mojo club on the reeperbahn 1 in hamburg: „le café abstrait“. the monthly event became fastly from an insider hit to one of the well-known chillout club in germany. with this success and the great feedback from the public and press, raphaël developped over the years different event formats with classical music called „le classique abstrait“, summer events „l'été abstrait“, „le voyage abstrait“ a multimedia show in residency since many years at planetarium hamburg. raphaël created too other events formats like „le cinéma abstrait“, performing a dj-soundtrack on german classic movies, „le concert abstrait“ at mojo club, „phil & chill“ at the musichall of hamburg and many more. since 2000, abstrait releases chillout compilations with more than 20 albums in a decade and became a reference in the international chill-out scene. abstrait radio sessions are broadcasted on different radio since more than 10 years. in 2001, „le classique abstrait“ has been weekly broadcasted on klassik radio. since 2004, abstrait is on air every sunday night on the german public broadcast „n-joy“ from ndr.
